THE MOST ICONIC GASTRONOMIC DESTINATION
The special ambiance of this historic venue surrounded by old monastery walls gives St Peter Stiftskeller – The Restaurant its unique and distinctive character. The hostelry was first documented on the occasion of Charlemagne’s visit in 803, it is therefore not just the most historically important restaurant in Salzburg, but also the oldest Restaurant in Central Europe.
Once upon a time, this was the meeting place for princes and bishops, where merchants and citizens discussed religion and money.
Although the premises and the Salons are unchanged, their sophisticated and tasteful interior now conveys a 21st Century Zeitgeist.
It is therefore not surprising that to this day St Peter Stiftskeller – The Restaurant is the preferred locality for leading figures in politics, commerce, sport and the arts, this was and is the ideal place for a rendezvous. During the Salzburg Festival St Peter Stiftskeller – The Restaurant in Salzburg is the obvious choice for performing artists as well as guests. It is therefore quite easily possible for Anna Netrebko, Erwin Schrott, Riccardo Muti or the Princess of Norway to dine at the next table.
